The global pandemic has accelerated the discussion on what defines “Community”. The immediate effect to our cities imposes strict requirements for enhanced distancing and the need to remain in a suspended isolation from our neighbors.

Central to any discussion on what defines community is the ability to provide affordable housing for all. Our scheme creates an all-inclusive new affordable housing hub over the existing rail sidings at Sunnyside Yard - Queens, NY. Our vision is for a community wrapped in series of public gathering spaces of varying scale where residents can meet/ greet, promenade and engage with the wider Queens communities.

The scheme explores; increased unit floor area creating in-unit work/schooling space and provides exterior balcony space. Amenity levels provide; incubator start-up office space, group work from home and vocational training. Tenant wellbeing is encouraged by performance/art/horticulture spaces within the semi podium garden.
